Each year, we participate in and sponsor a number of charitable/civic organizations within our community, including the American Cancer Society, Angel Flight, Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts, Deaf Service Center, Educational Foundation, Haven, Lake County Schools, EMS, Police, Children's Advocacy, Lake-Sumter Community College, Center for the Arts, Chambers of Commerce, various Project Graduations, March of Dimes, Fire Safety, Religious organizations, community development, and much more.
Our “Healthy HEROES” team, which is Healthcare Employees Reaching Out, encourages all team members to participate in community events at all levels of commitment.
As part of Central Florida Health, UF Health Leesburg Hospital and UF Health The Villages(R) Hospital partners with Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter, an organization dedicated to working with families and the community to create simple, decent, affordable housing for people living in sub-standard and overcrowded conditions.
Habitat for Humanity holds informational sessions on the UF Health Central Florida campuses to teach team members how to qualify for a Habitat home, and so far, several UF Health Central Florida team members have been recipients of these wonderful homes.
During workdays on the construction sites, UF Health Central Florida team members help raise trusses, paint, assist with landscaping and work on other important duties necessary in building a home. It is a rewarding experience, not only for the team members and their families who receive a home, but also for the volunteers on the job site, knowing that they have made a difference in the life a colleague.
